Team Ryouchi

[RYOUCHI SATO]

Ryouchi sat in the office of the academy sipping a warm cup of tea. He looked through the rosters of the latest genin graduates. This year jounin were being given a choice that they have never been given before. He was allowed to pick from the available students to form his squad. A few genin were already selected but for the most part, all of the graduates were still open for grabs. He wanted his team to be different from those which were already being made. As he expected, many of the jounin decided their members based on grades and natural talent.

Ryouchi felt like choosing a team to train based on those factors was against the whole concept of teaching in the first place. After all, what's the point of training geniuses? They hardly needed help at all. As a sensei he was supposed to help people improve, not lazily sit by and have a super group who doesn't need his help. Another flaw most jounin were making was that the team set ups didn't appropriately play off each others strengths. Not to mention he already foresaw plenty of ego clashes which would put a strain on teamwork.

Ryouchi criticized these decisions because these mere made by amateur jounin. Ryouchi had been a jounin since he was a teenager and therefore had some more experience. He then came up with an idea. He would let the students come to him. He did tell a few ninja about him needing a team, they would surely pass the message forward.

If that didn't work after a while, Ryouchi would go look on his own. He'd take anyone willing to learn, that was his decision. As their teacher, it was his job to train his squad to work as a team and play off each other. He was satisfied with the idea of spontaneity and closed his book. No matter if the team was easy to manage or difficult he didn't care. He loved a good challenge and he believed that he could handle no matter what would be thrown at him. He finished his tea and walked out to the yard where he sat on the ground to meditate.

[YAJUU REN]

Ren had jumped out of her bed, she was finally able to meet her team. "Why my own team." She said in wonder as she started to dress up for the day. "This is way too exciting." Ren laughed loudly, she then heard her younger brother scream in fear about his sister going crazy. He just doesn't understand yet. She nodded as she put on black spandex shorts. She then looked all of her shirts, Ren needed to be her own person on this team, this should speak to others that she could be both a ninja and stylish.

Ren pulled out a light pink shirt, flattening out the neck part and then pulled out a red top and tied the strings together. Ren then put on two large looking clips in her hair, which almost seemed to make her own red hair. She sighed a happily as she looked at herself in the mirror. "Perfect." Ren clapped her hands together. She finally grapped her forehead protector and gazed at it for a moment. "This is were the true journey begins." Ren put it around her forehead and tied it tightly. Before she left her room she grabbed a pair of matching red gloves.

She went into the dining room, her mother was in t heir making breakfast. "Hey mama." Ren smiled big as her mother turned around. "Oh my little girl is growing up." She walked to Ren and put her into a big hug. "Yeah mom... I am." Ren chuckled as her mother let her go. "Go make me proud." She rubbed Ren's cheek, staring at her with watery eyes. "Don't look at me like that!" Ren said loudly as she sat down at the table, her brother looked at her in wonder. Ren ate quickly and stood up. "Well I'm off to meet to my sensei." Ren ran to the door, with her mother saying good bye and her brother making a smart remark about how she looked.

Ren took in a deep breath of the new day and ran towards the academy. Finally, she slowed down her pace to notice a large looking man on the front yard in thought. Ren walked up to the man and kneeled down looking at him, she wasn't way too sure what to do. "Hello?" She titled her head.

[RYOUCHI SATO]

Ryouchi opened one eye to see who was talking to him. He then closed his eye again and remain in his meditation position. He saw her picture in the academy records. A new graduate,which could only mean one thing, his first member. He took a deep breath and then exhaled through his nose. Smoke and sparks of flame exited through his nostrils. He picked himself up and faced Ren. He scoped her out trying to get a good read on her. He thought that she'd be okay to train.

"You are here looking for a jounin? Ren of the Yajuu clan, welcome to your first step into being a real shinobi! With I as a teacher you will do well. As long as you listed to what I say, do as I do, and your spirit shines bright and determined. I accept you as my own pupil. As you are the first member to form this squad, we will wait awhile before training and introductions. If you have any questions or if you just want to chat as we wait, it would be most welcome." He said with a friendly smile as he sat back down.

He took out a tea a bottle of cold tea and poured it into a cup. He made a fast hand signal and the tea heated itself. Instead of producing flame as the jutsu was intended for, he purposely only generated enough heat to warm the tea. He pulled out some sugar packets out of his pack. " Do you want something to drink while we wait?"

[YAJUU REN]

Ren jumped slightly as the man opened his eye to look at her. She then blinked twice as he re-closed waiting to see if he was going to respond to her. She then saw smoke and sparks of fire exit his nostrils. Goodie, opposite element. She thought, her blue eyes looked up at him. He was a lot taller than what she thought, of course being 5'3" was a height to be made fun of from time to time.

Ren's head jerked back, suprised. I guess this sensei does his work. She then cleared her throat. "Of course! If you're going to be my teacher, I will listen. And I already do have spirit." Ren pointed to her chest with her thumb when she said that with a chuckle. She watched him sit down and decided to make herself comfortable, so many question bubbled on her tongue.

"Oh, nothing for me." She smiled big. "Hows it like being a ninja? Is it hard work? Think we'll be able to work as a team? Will our adventures be exciting?" Ren raised an eye brow, her eyes sparkled in light of the day. She was pumped up for this, Ren had looked forward to this day and it had finally come.

[RYOUCHI SATO]

Ryouchi smiled at the girls excitement. He put some sugar in his tea and stirred slowly after taking a sip, he answered Ren. "Being a ninja is a mixed blessing. On one hand you are respected and are honored by the village's trust in you. On the other hand, the life of a shinobi is a rough and deadly life. Not everyone has what it takes excel in this profession, heck not many have what it takes to survive! You are likely to lose many people you care for in battle such as friends, siblings, and lovers and many citizen of our village will not understand this road you have taken. However it is worth the pain. As a ninja you become more than yourself. You have satisfaction of using your skills and you have the chance to grow as a person! And you are in better position to protect what is important to you as well as inspire those around you."

He paused for a moment and took a long sip of tea. " Training is indeed hard work. If it was easy than everyone would be a ninja. There will be much failures and times of pain in the training which will feel like a burning hell. But it's worth it, after mastering these challenges, the sense of accomplishment out shines everything. I will do my best to help you genin work well as a team but I cannot do all the work for you. In the end it will be up to you and your team whether or not you can work together. I could just take control the whole time and give you guys little freedom to lead yourselves but then you learn nothing and I'd be crippling your abilities. We don't go on adventures, we go on missions. We aren't some swashbuckling group who steal from the rich and give to the poor, we follow orders. As genin, your missions will start at D rank which are not particularly exciting. You won't go on real dangerous missions as a starting genin because I will be training you guys to be prepared for the challenge. Occasionally we'll get C rank missions which should be at about your guys's ninja skills. They are a little more exciting. The real rush is from B, A, and S rank missions which you will not get until you are chunin and jounin. Although if we are understaffed at the moment, we are obligated to do B rank missions. Don't pray for them though, at genin level, it is incredibly lethal." he answered.

"So tell me, the Yajuu clan have creatures inside them right?" he asked Ren out of curiousity.

Ren leaned back and listened to her new sensei.Most of this sounds like the same stuff that big brother had told me when I started that academy. She thought, focusing on him. Of course she wasn't afraid of the road that she had picked, it's what her father wanted and it was exciting. I am in a position to protect whatever I want. Ren's thoughts flickered back to her pregnant mother and her younger brother, those were the two she really wanted to protect. Not only that but she didn't want to get ignored, being a middle child. When Ryouchi paused for his drink, she looked up to the sky, shielding her face with the back of her hand from the sun.

When he started to talk again, Ren shook her head from her thoughts and went back to what he was saying. She chuckled when Ryouchi said everyone would be a ninja if it was easy. He was going to be a good teacher to her team, she came to this conclusion, of course her gut did tell her to trust him and she would listen. She then rubbed the back of her head and smiled sheepishly when Ryouchi said that they would be on missions and not adventures. A kids gotta have imagination, right? Ren thought to herself. Ren then looked down, knowing that they would get stuck with only D rank mission and possibly a C rank mission on occasion. Ren wanted to be surrounded by excitement, even if it would hard work. But she then pirked back up hearing that they could possibly have a B mission, that would be good enough for her, Ren nodded slowly.

So tell me, the Yajuu clan have creatures inside them right? Ren's head jerked back. "Well... Yes, we do have 'creatures' inside of ourselves." She thought back to practicing their bloodline, she was having a hard time with it, but her father said when she really needed to change it would happen. "Its not dangerous or anything." Ren laughed and shook her hands in front of her in embarrassment, not a lot of people liked to talk to her about her clan. "It's just a little different than most other clans that can be found." Ren crossed her arms and nodded.

[RYOUCHI SATO]

Ryouchi nodded and finished his tea. He then made himself a cup of coffee and put six sugar packets into it and stirred. It was refreshing. "Not dangerous? Just about every power comes with a flaw. No dangers of giving into to bestial instinct? Potential tearing if the transformation is flawed? Just curious, my clans abilities are definitely not without their dangers." He gulped down his coffee and then brought out sushi. He put a lot of wasabi on his food, enough to make most people sick and in tears. He just ate happily.

"I can tell from how you carry yourself. You cannot activate your kekkai genkai yet. Nothing to be ashamed about, you'll get the hang of it. I mean you do have an excellent teacher after all." he said with a smile. He put some sushi in a bowl and offered it to Ren. It looked delicious, he made them himself. He had been making them at an early age and had finally gotten to the level of a sushi chef. He was quite happy with himself.

"Try a piece? Made them myself. I think I'm getting pretty good at it!" he said with pride as he added chopsticks to the bowl. He put wasabi on the side, not on the food for her. Didn't want her to pass out on the first day after all but she may want some spice to it.

[YAJUU REN]

"Of course." Ren agreed, there were flaws with their system of activating their kekkai genkai and even when it activated, their were dangers when becoming the beast that their body chose. Ren then watched as he pulled out some sushi, this guy was full of stuff, which amazed her.

I can tell from how you carry yourself. You cannot activate your kekkai genkai yet. Nothing to be ashamed about, you'll get the hang of it. I mean you do have an excellent teacher after all. She looked down in embarrassment, it wasn't everyday that a genin would know how the activate their kekkai genkai, she knew that even her young brother would come out of the academy not knowing himself. "Hopefully I will." She said, now smiling, pulling some of her hair behind her ear. "I bet it'll look amazing, too!" Ren thought about how her appearance would be like, what beast would chose her.

She then looked at his sushi and took the chopsticks, smiling big. "Thank you." She took a piece and quickly swiped the piece into the wasabi, not getting too much. Of course she wasn't really into spicy foods, but she popped the sushi into her mouth and chewed slowly. "Wow! This is really good." She chuckled.

"Sorry to embarrass you, I meant nothing by it. My kekkai genkai is just a bit different from yours. We are born with this skill fully developed but that is where the risk is. We are born with unnaturally high body temperatures, this being that our stomach lining is nearly unbreakable and holds the lava in our bodies as opposed to stomach acid. Also, our chakra emits intense heat. I am the third child have this gift because other children combusted under the intense heat and pressure their bodies give out. This is why we are placed with a seal that filters our heat for to keep us at safe levels. We train to keep this under control. My sister and I managed to control by the time we were of academy age. I mastered it at the age of seventeen. Lava jutsus can technically be done by others, the fifth Mizukage knows how to. It's our bodies and our chakra heat that sets us apart." He explained as he scarfed down his food. He was happy man once he was fed. Good food was one of his passions. Due to his body heat, calories and fat melted at an alarming rate. He had to eat a lot to keep his strength up. A hassle sure, but at least he never got fat!

"It's good you have time before it develops. You can prepare yourself that way." he said smiling as he sat there. He looked up at the sky for a bit losing himself in the clouds. He came to though and let Ren have his leftovers. He was happy she enjoyed it. he did work hard on making those after all.

"Have some more if you want. Just try to save some in case any other genin wants to join me today."

[YAJUU REN]

Ren sighed softly, he was right everyone, even those who weren't apart of a clan was just a little different. She picked up another piece of sushi, listening to the clan he came from. Wow. That's intense. She thought, He's already born with the ability and they have to fight for their lives at birth. She looked over to the side to see two kids running around. Ah, Lava jutsu. That's pretty rare. Ren thought, leaning back slightly.

She then chuckled as Ryouchi said that she had time to develop and prove herself with her kekkai genkai. And he was right, it took big brother quite sometime before he could phase from human to beast, but during that time he had to prove that he could be a ninja without his kekkai genkai fully developed. I guess it's my turn. She thought.

"Haha, thank you. And I'll make sure to save some for my teammates." Ren nodded and looked around the area, remembering her time as an academy student. "How was your time as a genin?" Ren asked, looking back to Ryouchi.
