PERSONALITY:
Laziness- Shikamaru is one of the laziest ninjas in his entire village. This leads him to only want to do the bare minimal on missions and holds him back from being promoted to jounin. He is perfectly content with doing only what is needed and doesn't tend to bother with going above and beyond the call of duty. Though this lack of initiative can come off as annoying, in some ways it is good. He uses his laziness to draw out the actions of his opponents and then brings them down by outsmarting them and using little effort.

Sarcastic- His dry sense of humor is that of being sarcastic. He's able to use his wit to point out irony and foolishness of the actions of others. Though this trait tends to annoy both friend and foe, he doesn't use sarcasm to generally put down others only poor decisions and stupid statements.

Goes with the flow- Though a great leader and strategist, Shikamaru does not usually stand out from a crowd. A fairly easygoing man, he tends to do what others think best rather than going out of his way to share his views. The only exception to this of course is when he is appointed leader of a squad but other than that he doesn't try to influence others all too much.

Intelligent- He scored a 200 on an IQ test at twelve years old, thus making him beyond genius level. This makes him an excellent strategist. He uses logic to dictate most of his actions.

TECHNIQUES:
Shadow Possession- Extends shadow to connect with anothers. Once connected the user can temporarily control the victims actions by making them imitate the user. ( Used only on NPC's, no named extras, and by permission of other characters. Will not use to God mod)

Shadow strangle- Extends shadow to grab and choke opponent.

Shadow Stitching- Materializes shadows to attack and bind opponents by using shadow needles.

Shadow Possession shuriken- Uses shuriken or other sharp projectile to throw at opponents shadow. This binds the victim in place.

Shadow Endgame- Similar to shadow stitch in terms of materializing shadows. Used to lift and throw objects with tentacle like extensions.

WEAPONS: Kunai, shuriken, paper bombs andsmoke bombs

HISTORY: Born of the Nara clan, Shikamaru inherited the knowledge of Konoha's deadliest shadow jutsus. Like his father, his team consists of Ino and his childhood best friend Chouji to form Ino-shika-cho. Despite his unusually high intellect, he was an underachiever in school and tended to have poor grades. However, he passed his genin exam with an extremely high score. His mentor was that of Asuma Sarutobi whom he still shares a friendship with. Until the arrival of the Chuunin exams, Shikamaru did not have much of an exciting ninja career.

During the Chuunin exams, and the Invasion of Konoha arc Shikamaru was the only genin to rise to the rank of Chuunin. This is ironic considering, he forfeited his final exam fight despite him having the upper hand. When Gaara went berserk Shikamaru accompanied Naruto and Sakura in order to track him down and stop him. Shikamaru however did not fight Gaara because he had the others go on without him as he distracted following enemy sound ninja. Just as he was about to die, he was saved by Asuma.

During the Sasuke retrieval arc, Shikamaru led a team consisting of Choji, Neji, Naruto, and Kiba in order to prevent Sasuke from joining Orochimaru's team. Needing to split up his team, he sent each of his team mates to fight deadly sound ninjas where all of them nearly died in order to defeat them. Shikamaru would have died by the hands of Tayuya if Temari did not show up to save him. After failing his mission, Shikamaru blamed himself for the damage of his team. After some encouragement from Tsunade and Temari he resolved to improve his leadership skills.

Two and a half years later, Shikamaru is appointed as Temari's personal guide during her stay in Konoha. He denies the rumors of a romantic relationship with her. He did not help Naruto save the Kazekage because he was busy setting up the chuunin exams.

After his sensei Asuma was killed by Hidan of the Akatsuki, Shikamaru swore revenge. Though he could not kill the immortal Hidan, he managed to tear him apart so that only his living head remained. He then took up Asuma's knives and cigarettes. When Pein invaded Konoha Shikamaru protected Kurenai who was pregnant with Asuma's child.

During the Fourth Ninja War Shikamaru served as proxy commander for Gaara and fought alongside Ino, Temari, Chouji, and Temari. He helped seal the villain Kinkaku and was forced to take down the resurrection of his old mentor Asuma.

DESIRED PLOT: Seeing as Shikamaru's a pretty easy going guy I think it's best to go with whatever happens and adapt to it. I would like to have him face off against Hidan sometime when someone makes a profile for him. Maybe or maybe not develop a love interest. If not than I'm cool with that.
