“Assigned to clear up duty AGAIN!” grumbled an annoyed Ryuu as he swept up dust in the dark, tiny classroom. This wasn’t the first time the chuunin had gotten in trouble, and it sure wouldn’t be the last. After all, his style of… humor, as he would put it, didn’t truly mesh well with most of the village. “So I snuck a little firecracker into old man Ibiki’s tea, it was funny. Isn’t like he has any hair left to burn off,” he continued, only talking to himself because he knew no one else was around, he wouldn‘t dare speak this way if he knew someone else was around.
In truth, Ryuu knew he got lucky, and if the “firecracker” had been filled with anymore chakra than it was, he would have been facing much more dire consequences. Ryuu had no interest in letting Ibiki perform an “interrogation” him. He was just complaining because, well, he hated getting stuck with such a boring task. Where was the creative aspect in sweeping up dust? What about filing papers? Or picking gum stuck under tables? There was nothing to do about it that was unique, nothing you could do to make it your own, just perform actions like a machine. At least, that is how Ryuu saw it.
Unable to just accept his situation, Ryuu continued to bad mouth Ibiki as he kept sweeping alone in the dark, sending dusk flying across the room. It wasn’t hot, but it definitely wasn’t cold either. There was a faint smell of sweat from young children lingering in the air, something that Ryuu would no doubt have to change before he was through. Finally, unable to take the monotonous task any longer, Ryuu threw the open door, which he immediately saw as odd. He was sure he had shut it.

Takara walked through the front entrance of the Ninja Academy with a bounce in her step. The baggy v-neck shirt she wore rebelliously slid down her shoulder for what had to be the millionth time that day. Takara ignored it, knowing it would just slide down again. She jogged up the stairs, her violet hair swinging from side to side, and opened the first door she came to.
'Nope, not here,' she thought to herself. She had been asked to pick up some papers by Iruka, but he had forgotten to specify which room they were in. That left Takara with the task of searching every classroom, but she didn't mind since she didn't have anything important to do.
She stopped at the next the next door, which was left open, and found a boy inside. He was talking to himself and was, apparently, annoyed by something. Takara smiled to herself and turned away, quietly shutting the door behind her; she didn't want to interrupt the boy's rant.
The petite kunoichi continued on to the next room. She slid the door open and, much to her disappointment, still did not see the papers Iruka had asked for. With a sigh of frustration she left the classroom to continue her search. However, the boy she had accidentally spied on was now in the hallway with a confused look on his face. She giggled softly, catching the boy's attention.

Ryuu’s head whipped immediately in Takara’s direction when he heard her giggle. At first he wasn’t sure if he was dreaming, after all, no one was suppose to be here. At first he gave his eyes a little rub, just trying to confirm if she was really standing before him. As his eyes came right back into focus, still seeing her standing right there, Ryuu wasn’t quite sure how to feel. On the one hand, there was someone there to make him feel significantly less lonely. On the other, she probably heard him talking to himself and thought he was crazy.
“Ummm, hiiii,” Ryuu began slowly, clear unsure of where to go with this. “Uhhhh, if you heard me talking just a little bit ago, it was, uhhh, to, uhhh, the voices in my head?” he finally managed to spit out, and almost immediately wanted to talk it back. After all, the only thing that was more insane than speaking to oneself was talking to invisible voices. He just hoped that maybe she would find it a little funny, maybe sparing him from looking like a raving idiot. “I am Ryuu, by the way,” he added sheepishly, putting on his nicest goofy grin.
“So, want did you do to get sent to the prison of eternal boredom and repetitive tasks of manual labor?” he asked, wanting desperately to get a conversation going in order to spare him from going back to his punishment. The longer he could put off sweeping anymore dust, the better in his eyes.

"Well I don't know why Ibiki would be inside your head, but okay," Takara shot back, not even trying to hold back her laughter. She could tell that this boy was a goof-off and maybe a little bit of a trouble maker. "I'm Takara," she replied, sticking out her hand to shake with a wide grin on her face. "It's nice to meet you Ryuu-kun."
The petite girl giggled again at the boy's description of the Academy. He must have gotten into some kind of trouble, confirming her earlier suspicion of being a trouble-maker. "I'm just here to pick up some papers for Iruka-sensei. Wherever he left them... But what brings you here on this lovely day?"

Laughter… Ryuu could deal with that. After all, that is the sound he tried to inspire most of the time. Feeling much more comfortable now, though still a little embarrassed about being caught talking to himself, he reached out and gave her a firm hand shake. “We will see if you are still saying that after spending sometime with me,” he replied, that goofy grin still on his face. “But all the same, it is lovely to meet you Takara.”
He gave her a little shrug when she asked about why he was here. “Lets just say I added something special to Ibiki’s tea, and well… he didn’t appreciate it,” he answered, trying to avoid telling the whole story. After all, telling someone that your idea of fun was making a person’s drink explode tended to not go over well in his experience.

"That's... Interesting," Takara said, shaking her head with a laugh. "Personally, I would choose a different person's tea to mess with. Ibiki can be really intimidating when he wants to be."
She had heard about Ibiki from some of her friends that had taken the Chuunin Exam with Ibiki as one of the head proctors. Apparently he caused more than half the gennins to drop out of the exam. Not just any normal man could do that.
"You've got some guts... Or maybe you just aren't that bright," Takara said with a wink, playfully shoving him. "So what's he give you for punishment?"

"I know, but I thought I could make him smile, replied Ryuu as honestly as he could. Indeed, Ryuu only did the foolish things he did in an atempt to spread joy, in part why he resented his punishment so much. "He always seems so cold and angry, I thought that if I could make him laugh he would be happier," he said with a shrug of his shoulders.
"Cleaning," he replied to her question of his punishment, "I have to clean ten classrooms to by tomorrow morning to his level of satisfaction. Otherwise I get to clean the whole building. I am not looking forward to it."

"I don't think that was the best way to go about making him smile," Takara stated with a sympathetic smile of her own. Ryuu sounded genuinely sincere, so she wouldn't judge him. Although, she did find the entire situation comical. "You should probably apologize for making him angry, even if your intentions were good."
Takara began walking down the hall to continue her search for Iruka's papers. "How about I make a deal with you," she said looking over her shoulder. "I'll help you clean if you help me find those papers Iruka told me to retrieve."

“I would laugh if the same was done to me,” replied Ryuu with another little shrug and a smile, “but then again, I am kind of weird.” He knew that he probably should apologize, or at least, apologize when he wasn’t running away screaming, but he figured at this point the best thing he could do was stay out of the torture master’s way. “I think I will try that,” he said anyways, even if he wasn’t planning on it.
“And you have yourself a deal,” replied Ryuu ecstatically as she offered to help him with cleaning if he helped her find the paper she was looking for. Anyway he could make it through his punishment faster. Besides, the company would be nice. “Where have you already looked?”

"Well," Takara said, sliding open the door to the next room, "I've looked in every room on this floor before this classroom." She pointed down the hall toward the front entrance to indicate all the rooms she had already searched. She waited for Ryuu to catch up with her before entering.
"They should be on the first floor... I think," the petite girl muttered walking over to the desk. She opened a few drawers but found nothing. Next was the filing cabinet. After opening the first three drawers, she finally found the large stack of ungraded papers. "HA!" she shouted in triumph. "Finally found these suckers." She removed them from the file and turned to Ryuu with a toothy grin spread across her face. "Alright, so where to now?"
